Dr Hess graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 2012. He immigrated to Australia from South Korea when he was two years old.
Dr Hess has completed a wide range of post-graduate dental education courses ranging from learning to digitally design veneers and crowns to tackling complex wisdom teeth extractions. He also completed a two-year orthodontic diploma (braces and Invisalign/clear aligners) in 2016.
With over 10 years of dental experience in many diverse communities, Dr Hess recognises that everyone has their own life story that can shape their dental history, needs, and wants. This cultured the core ethos of Bespoke Smiles Wanaka.
Amassing a broad and high-level skillset of clinical experience and techniques, he is excited to be able to offer Wanaka and the wider Queenstown-Lakes district modern and comprehensive dentistry for all ages.
Dr Julianna immigrated to Australia as a baby and grew up in Brisbane, where she attained her Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Queensland in 2012. While working in private general practice, she completed a two-year post-graduate diploma in orthodontics in 2016. She then worked in a specialist orthodontic practice for three years where she managed complex and advanced cases.
Given her extensive experience with orthodontic treatment, Dr Julianna focuses on providing the most advanced braces and clear aligner (Invisalign) treatment available to achieve amazing smile transformations.
Dr Julianna's empathetic and warm nature has won her many loyal fans amongst her patients and families who followed her from practice to practice. She is a true believer in equality in dentistry – the right for all patients to be treated with respect and receive the best of any form of dental care without judgment.

Made for Wānaka
Dr Hess and Dr Julianna met at dental school and connected over not only their passion in dentistry but also their love of nature. They spend their free time pushing their comfort zones in outdoor adventures and their favourite pastime is hiking. After spending ten years traveling and hiking the world, they decided to settle in beautiful Wanaka; one of the first places they visited together. Wanaka for them was love at first sight, both for the local people and the unique landscape. They are excited to put their roots down and enjoy the picturesque town with their English springer spaniel and two adopted cats.
One of their main life goals is to minimise their footprint on the planet, so they embrace sustainability whenever possible in their day-to-day lives. They are eager to extend this ethos at Bespoke Smiles Wanaka and join the local community to conserve and care for this precious region.
